"A farmer has to be an optimist or he wouldn't still be a farmer." - Will Rogers

While not usually consumed by most people, HAY still plays a key role in our food supply. From seeding to harvesting, there is an art to putting up quality feed. With over 40 year of experience, we have perfected the ability to put up some of the finest forage in the world.

Welcome to Our Family

Growing up a city girl, I realized, about 10 years ago, just how little I knew about farming or the American farmer. Now married to a farmer, I have a new respect for the hard work and the unique challenges faced by farmers in this country. I invite you to come explore our home, our farm and learn, as I have, how their hard work and dedication has put food on our tables for generations.

Our History

In the early 1920s, Clyde Stephenson moved his family from Thurston County, Washington over the Mountains and started a small farm in the Yakima Valley. Harold (one of Clyde's two sons) and his son Vern continued farming and expanded the operation to its present size.

Now in operation nearly 100 years, Latum Creek Ranches, Inc. has grown to approximately 2000 acres producing several varieties of alfalfa seed, wheat, and 8000 tons of hay per year. Vern now works along side his own two sons, Zachary and Alex. Zachary manages the daily operations of the farm, while Alex manages customer deliveries.

Our Crops

While LCR has raised a variety of crops for over 4 generations, our focus these last 20 years continues to be hay and seed products. We supply a variety of markets domestically and internationally, and are considered a major hay producer in the Yakima Valley.

A majority of our hay is baled straight alfalfa, but when supply demands, we have produced various mixes. Currently we only offer 3 x 4 (1/2 ton/1250 lb) bales.

For more information about our crops Please visit our Products Page or please feel free to contact us with any questions, as our supplies and prices constantly fluctuate.

Barn Door Service

Yes, it’s true, we do deliver. With our custom made delivery truck, Alex can deliver up to 8 big bales of hay, right to your 'barn' door. You can relax too, no unloading by hand. The truck has the ability to unload itself using hydraulic chains built into the bed. . . . for more information and current delivery rates

Lots of mouths to feed? We can also deliver a semi truck load of hay, which is 48 big bales weighing approximately 30 tons per load. . . . more information

On the Map

The Yakima Valley, with its rolling hills, deep soils, and favorable weather conditions, is home to some of Washington's premium farming grounds. LCR is situated up against the southern slope of the Auhtanum Ridge which borders Yakima to the south and is about 15-miles to the west of Wapato. This is an easy, scenic drive for many people in Washington. As a result, we have many of our customers from the west-side of the state.
